Residents of New York’s Hudson Valley were left stunned when a bright fireball appeared in the sky, streaking downward before disappearing near the horizon.
The fireball was visible for several seconds, long enough for multiple reports to flood social media.
Many described it as larger and brighter than a shooting star, with some even noting a greenish or bluish tint as it fell.
One witness near Poughkeepsie described it as “a ball of light, almost like a comet, burning up before my eyes.” Others said the fireball appeared so low they thought it might strike the ground.
So far, no debris or impact site has been confirmed, suggesting the object burned up completely before reaching the earth’s surface.
The Hudson Valley has long been a hotspot for unusual aerial sightings, from the famous Hudson Valley UFO wave of the 1980s to recent reports of strange lights, the area has developed a reputation for unexplained sky phenomena.
The latest fireball only adds to the intrigue, drawing the attention of both amateur astronomers and those fascinated by the unknown.
