Although this anomaly was discovered last year by a user on Reddit, it still remains a curious find, mainly because no one can agree what the object actually is.
Of course speculation was rife on the internet and everyone had a theory, including myself, but apart from the usual dis-info crowd, a conclusive explanation is yet to be found.
In my opinion the object is clearly artificial, but is it simply a piece of the rover which was discarded by the craft as it landed on Mars, that is NASA's explanation anyway, and it does sound reasonable.
The images below are photographs of the rovers heat shield on the martian surface, and they do not look like the anomalous object, nor are they in the same position.
The heat shield debris looks upright and twisted, where as the artifact looks flat and appears to be casting a shadow, almost as if its hovering, but this could be a trick of light.
To be honest i am still on the fence with is artifact, i am not satisfied that its part of the rovers entry system, nor am i convinced its a martian vehicle or ship, and this limbo is completely the fault of NASA with its poor quality images, and its constant duplicity.
